Young Marine Uniforms and Guidelines

Uniforms are required in the Shenandoah Valley Young Marines.  If you have any questions in regards to cost, sizes, or where to get the correct uniform please feel free to contact Bill Molitor for help.  We do conduct fundraisers in order to help the kids to earn their money for their uniforms.

Uniforms

Young Marines are authorized to wear appropriately modified versions of the Marine Corps uniform.  The National Executive Director issued the necessary modifications designed to clearly identify the wearer as a member of the Young Marines program. The Young Marine uniform is worn during Young Marine scheduled meetings, including drills (marching), physical training and other authorized events, as specified and/or approved by the unit Commander.  The official uniform for youth in the Young Marines program is the Woodland pattern camouflage blouse, trousers and khaki web belt, boots, cover and white T-shirt.  The trouser, blouse and boots have to be purchased by the Young Marine at your nearest surplus store, or online at:

Black Boots - http://www.american-armynavy.com/BootJungleStyle.htm

The Unit will issue a red Young Marine T-shirt, cover, boot bands, patches and web belt.  Boot bands and patches will be awarded during recruit graduation.

Personal Appearance/Military Standards

Males will maintain a proper haircut as prescribe in the Young Marine guidebook. Females will wear their hair pulled up in a bun or French braid above the bottom of the collar of the camouflage blouse.
